Welcome
5-10 Minutes
Divide the group into two or three (make at least 3-5 people in a group).
Give them time to plan a menu for a "Dinner with the King or President". Allot sufficient time about 5-10 minutes for them to come up with a complete menu plan. Share their thoughts in the big group.
Someone had said,
"People who love to eat are always the best people".
Luciano Pavarotti said,
"One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating."
How about you? What can you say about food or eating? (Let them share their thoughts.)

Worship

Gathering makes more fun if there's food! Food makes us relax, happy and excited! Later, we'll have time to eat! But for now, let us give thanks and worship the One Who gives us food to eat, the One Who provides our daily bread!

How do you want to experience Jesus dining with you? Look at this verse, Revelation 3:20 (NIV)
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
Jesus is initiating a dinner with you. Only, you need to hear His voice and open the door of your heart for Him to come in. Invite Him in your life and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. (Give opportunity for prayer of acceptance).

- What is one unforgettable banquet you have attended, why?
- Banquets become special because of the extravagant food, excellent set up and extra special people who are present. But what could you possibly imagine if in the said banquet, Jesus is invited or He himself is the one who organizes it? (Let them share their thoughts).
- Well, a true story happened, when Jesus dined with ordinary people and the so called sinners. Let us read the story in our text today, Mark 2:13-17
- Where did the dinner happen? Who initiated the dinner?
- Who was Levi? (He was Matthew, one of the 12 Apostles).
- How did the Pharisees react when they saw Jesus eat with the tax collectors and sinners?
- What did Jesus say in return to the Pharisees' comment?
- What does this mean to you? “Jesus dining with the sinners.”
